RosyBeeEater

June 18, 2017 – Rosy Bee-eater (Merops malimbicus)

These bee-eaters are found in parts of western central Africa. Mostly feeding on flying ants, honeybees, and other flying insects, they catch their prey in the air. They are often seen feeding in large groups over water, occasionally skimming the water’s surface. Large colonies nest in holes excavated in wide, flat, sandy islands and river banks.
