Guaiabero

May 9, 2017 – Guaiabero (Bolbopsittacus lunulatus)

Found in the Philippines, these small parrots are named for their fondness for guavas. In addition to guavas, they eat other fruits, including figs and their seeds. Foraging on vines and trees, alone, in pairs, or in flocks of up to 20 birds, they can be difficult to spot when not in flight. They likely breed in March, laying three or four eggs per clutch.
