April 23, 2017 – Maroon Oriole (Oriolus traillii)
These orioles are found in the Himalayas, Myanmar, southern China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Taiwan. They eat nectar, berries, fruit, especially figs, and invertebrates, such as caterpillars. Though they are usually seen alone or in pairs, they sometimes join mixed-species flocks. Pairs build deep cup-shaped nests from bark, grass, and other plant fibers in forked branches near the tops of trees. Both parents care for the chicks.
