January 28, 2017 – Black-throated Parrotbill, Ashy-eared Parrotbill, Nepal Parrotbill, Orange Parrotbill, or Orange Suthora (Paradoxornis nipalensis)

These parrotbills are found in parts of Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. They eat small insects, buds and other parts of bamboo, and grass seeds. Nesting from March to July, they build small, compact cup nests from bamboo leaves and other materials. There are ten recognized subspecies which differ in plumage and may be split into several species at some point.
