December 20, 2016 – Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot or Blue-topped Hanging-parrot (Loriculus galgulus)

These small parrots are found in Southeast Asia, including Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and southern Thailand. Their diet is made up of small fruits, such as figs, flower buds, nectar, seeds, and some insects. Named for their habit of roosting upside down, they are often seen alone or in small family groups. Pairs collect nesting materials and build their nests in stumps or tree hollows. Females incubate the eggs.
