November 13, 2016 – Eurasian Golden Oriole, European Golden Oriole, or Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus)

Requested by: @danniks

Breeding in much of Europe and parts of Asia, these orioles migrate to central and southern Africa. They eat mostly insects, along with some small vertebrates, including mice, and fruits and berries in the fall. The high calorie fruits help them build up reserves of fat for their long migrations. Females build the hammock-like nests from grasses, mosses, and lichens. Both parents incubate the eggs and feed the chicks insects, especially bumblebees.
