August 7, 2016 – Slaty-backed Forktail (Enicurus schistaceus)

These forktails are found in parts of Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, and China. They spend most of their time around rocky rivers and streams, hunting invertebrates including mollusks and small snails. Breeding between February and June, they build cup-shaped or domed nests from grasses, leaves, and other materials, usually on natural ledges or tree roots near rivers and mountain streams.
