April 15, 2016 – Firethroat, David’s Rubythroat, or Père David’s Orange-throat (Luscinia pectardens)

These birds are found in southern China, northeast India, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. They eat invertebrates, foraging on the forest floor, and breed in dense vegetation in valleys and near streams. The IUCN has classified the species as Near Threatened due to habitat degradation, though due to their remote range their population is difficult to estimate.
