March 24, 2016 – Andean Goose (Chloephaga melanoptera)
Found in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina, these sheldgeese do not fly or swim particularly well and spend most of their time on land. They probably eat mostly grasses, often grazing in flocks. During the breeding season they form pairs and build scrape nests in grassy vegetation. Females incubate the eggs while males guard them. After about a month of incubation, both parents care for the babies.
