November 27, 2015 – Taiwan Whistling Thrush or Formosan Whistling Thrush (Myophonus insularis)

These thrushes are found in most of mainland China and Taiwan. They feed on freshwater shrimp and aquatic insects, as well as some lizards, frogs, and terrestrial insects. Normally living alone, they spend the majority of their time on the ground, hopping from rock to rock in streams or riverbeds. They build their nests from twigs and small roots in large trees, or in the spaces between boulders. Both parents share in feeding the chicks.
