July 1, 2015 – Black-throated Tit, Black-throated Bushtit, Red-headed Tit, or Red-headed Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos concinnus)

These tits are found in Pakistan around the Himalayan foothills, as well as in northern India, Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam, Burma (Myanmar), China, and Taiwan. They feed mostly on insects, but also eat some seeds and berries. Extremely social, they are often found in large flocks of around 40 birds, sometimes including other bird species. Like many social species they are cooperative breeders, with many flock members assisting in rearing chicks. The males and females work together for about 10 days to build a woven oval nest from moss and lichen.
