Requested by: taylorrbranham
These lorikeets are found in parts of New Guinea and Indonesia. They have a red and a melanistic form. In the melanistic form the red feathers are replaced by black. Like other lorikeets, their diet is made up of fruit, nectar, pollen, flowers, and some seeds. Their tongues are tipped in tiny bristles, which help them extract nectar and pollen from flowers. There are four subspecies, which vary in coloration.
