April 16, 2015 – Namaqua Dove (Oena capensis)
Requested by: taylorrbranham
These doves are found in open grassy areas throughout sub-Saharan Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. A subspecies also lives in Madagascar. They eat mostly grass seeds and some invertebrates. Although they spend most of their time in pairs or alone, they sometimes gather in large flocks around water or food sources. Building their nests from twigs and grass, in low bushes, both parents incubate the eggs.
