March 12, 2015 – Tree Pipit (Anthus trivialis)

Requested by: derbytup

These birds breed across most of Europe and parts of Asia, migrating to central and southeastern Africa and South Asia. They eat invertebrates, as well as some berries and other plant matter. Males sing from branches, sometimes flying upward from their perches and singing while floating back down with their wings spread. Although they are classified as a species of Least Concern globally, their population in England has decreased by around 85% within the last two decades.
